Summary of Experience

Our principal has been involved with blast resistant design since 1978. He has a background in heavy civil engineering but was trained in structural dynamics, with an emphasis on the blast/impact/seismic fields. He holds patents on aspects of blast resistant door designs and has been involved in the development of impact resistant laminated composites.

One of our Directors has a background in the protection of buildings and facilities for various clients. He developed this knowledge, particularly in the field of weapons-resistant glazing, to the point where he is Chairman of the European Standards Working Group, (CEN TC33 AH3 Group). This Group has now produced the EN standards 13123-2:2000 and 13124-2:2000. He is also a specialist in counter-terrorist design and contingency planning.

Our other staff were specifically trained for work in this field and they have experience of blast and impact resistant design and testing. They have also specialised in the security-related design for a number of large building projects.

Our in house staff have the expertise and experience to design closed circuit television, intruder detection and access control systems.  We have completed a large number of projects in these areas.

We are also able to provide non specialist civil, structural and architectural design, which has, in the past, taken the form of such things as roadway and drainage design around explosives compounds and so on.

We feel that we are able to carry out design and assessment work based on analytical methods and also, in many cases crucially, on testing.

For many years we have operated a quality assurance system to BS 5750 and then ISO9000. During 2002, we formalised this and were assessed by BSI (our external auditors) against ISO 9001:2000. We were formally registered with BSI, in accordance with BS EN ISO 9001:2000 on the 11 th February 2003.
