We have been involved in a large number of trials where we have worked for contractors in the development of glazing and curtain wall systems. This work has continued, but more recently, we have arranged many individual trials for large projects (such as some of the international airports) which feature abnormal arrangements. These have included very large curtain wall units (we have produced successful schemes for glass panes up to 7 square metres) and also newer fixing systems which use ‘Structural’ glazing or glass supported on two sides only. Both of these approaches have been developed successfully. Further trials have been arranged for clients as part of their normal product development.

Frontline Windows before blast test Frontline Windows after blast testWe are managing the commercial trials, known as Comblast. This started in 2001 and gives manufacturers the opportunity to carry out range testing, generally to the new blast resistant glazing standards EN 13123-2:2000 and 13124-2:2000. As part of our work, we find and liaise with clients, carry out the design and procurement for any ancillary equipment that may be needed, arrange the trials and then prepare reports for their use.

Some of our staff have formal Range Conducting Officer qualifications, for ballistic testing and for demolitions. We also have appropriate qualifications and authorisations for the safe handling of explosives and prohibited weapons.

We carry out a range of ballistic testing. We use the Kynamco range at Mildenhall for this work and have a range of proof barrels and weapons for this purpose. Recently, we have been carrying out trials on glass/polyurethane/polycarbonate composites for very low temperature cash-in-transit vehicles, using 7.62x39 ammunition.

We are experienced in the preparation of reports relating to our work.
